A daily blog on everything Southern Living covers, from recipes to garden design. Here's a post on their 2013 Idea House.
Here’s what you’ll find: Southern Living contributing editor
and Fontanel interior decorator Phoebe Howard served up a warm, neutral
palate that creates a gracious and relaxed feel.
Beyond the beautiful interiors, nearly 2,800 square feet of porches
surround the U-shaped farmhouse, making it ideal for entertaining.
In the gardens, regionally indigenous plants like magnolias, boxwood,
and hydrangea welcome guests. Mandrell Family roses were planted as
homage to country music legend (and avid gardener) Barbara Mandrell and
her family, the original owners of the Fontanel property.
Do stop by this year. And mark your calendar: Next year the house will reopen as a boutique hotel. The porch is waiting for you.
