This inviting family cabin is a rustic retreat inspired by the iconic T.A. Moulton barn in Wyoming. Crafted with timeless character, its exterior materials and dual-pitched roof reflect the enduring and practical craftsmanship of classic western barn architecture. The cabin welcomes you with a large covered porch, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or taking in the sunset as it bathes the landscape in golden hues. Inside, the thoughtful design offers comfort and practicality for family gatherings. The vaulted main living area features an optional wood stove, fostering a cozy atmosphere for chilly evenings, and tall windows to let in the sun and the view. Open to the living area is a fully equipped kitchen with a beamed ceiling. The large dining room, adjacent to the kitchen, will easily fit a family-sized table for pancake breakfasts or the evening meal. Just off the dining room and kitchen, a small hall leads to a bathroom and a private bedroom. On the other side of the cabin is another bedroom and a bunk room. Both these sleeping rooms have access to a bathroom which is compartmentalized to allow more than one user at a time. Directly off the kitchen is a laundry room, with a pantry cabinet, and direct access to the exterior mechanical shed. A library ladder that glides out of the way when not in use, provides access to the loft above the kitchen and rear rooms of the cabin. The mechanical shed, located at the back of the cabin, has sufficient space for the water heater plus whatever equipment may be required to electrify and heat the cabin at its location, whether that be on or off the grid. This cabin's timeless charm and functional design create a welcoming space for cherished family memories.

FAQs

Are designs on Houseplans ready to submit to my building department for permitting?

It depends on where you're building. Our plans contain enough information for a professional builder to construct your home, but your local government may require additional information before permitting. We strongly advise that you talk with your builder before you get started. If you are building for yourself, we recommend visiting your local building department to start your diligence. Read more here.

Can I make changes to a plan?

Absolutely! Our modification service allows you to customize almost anything - whether it's adding an extra garage bay, adjusting square footage, changing the roof pitch, or more, the plan modification service is a great value and can be completed quickly. Additionally, if you purchase an electronic plan set (PDF or CAD), you may have the option to make changes locally. CAD files offer the most flexibility for custom edits. Just let us know what you're thinking, and we’ll provide an estimate and timeframe to get started. Learn more here.
