The "Colonial Revival" was an amalgam of many national styles and building traditions, traditions that later composed themselves into unique sub-styles as each style was refined and improved. The Coral Gables house (designed by Althea Merrick, mother of real-estate developer George Merrick) is prototypical of the Colonial Revival. The Merricks, New Englanders transplanted to Miami, Florida, dressed a naive Georgian Palladian, New England Farmhouse in local Coral Stone, covered the gabled roof with red-clay tiles, and called it "Mediterranean" although it was, in fact, a sentimental idealization of the American recolonization of Florida. George Merrick would eventually develop the family's 3,000 acre citrus grove into the town of Coral Gables whose tree-lined boulevards, gorgeous monumental buildings, and lush parks were organized around quaint colonial villages: French, Italian, Dutch South African, Chinese, Spanish-Mexican, et cetera. Coral Gables is among the most successful metamorphosis of the assorted Colonial Revivals into the Beaux Arts City Beautiful.

Mirror Reversed Sets
A mirror-reversed set is a printed copy of your house, resulting in the same image you would see if you held the drawing up to a mirror. Everything, including the text, is backward in relation to the original design. These kinds of drawing are typically used to reorient an original plan more advantageously on a site, either because the homeowner prefers it that way or because of limitations of the site itself. Note: Mirror reverse sets are only available with a 5 copy or 8 copy set. With a Reproducible, PDF, or CAD set, you can print mirrored copies locally. In addition: 5 Copy set selected, should only allow 4 mirrored sets to be selected. 8 Copy set selected, should only allow 7 mirrored sets to be selected.
Unless you buy an “unlimited” plan set or a multi-use license you may only build one home from a set of plans. Please call to verify if you intend to build more than once. Plan licenses are non-transferable and cannot be resold.
“The story of the American Dream is the history of the American Home, and each home tells a story. Our beautiful American homes expand the American Dream by adapting regional building traditions to modern living. Each of our homes considers its place, its purpose, and the family who lives within it, and each house acknowledges the universal desire for comfort, ease, affordability, and beauty.”
