Trusses, Stone & Open Sky: A Hill Country Home Built for the Good Life The entrance sets the experience in motion from the very first step. A sun porch framed by wood trusses draws you through and into a two-story combined great room, kitchen, and dining space where exposed wood beams run overhead and a wall of built-in cabinetry with a fireplace anchors the far end. Multiple sets of French doors open the entire rear of this space to a generous wrap-around U-shaped back porch, making indoor-outdoor living the natural default rather than an occasional luxury. The kitchen runs alongside the social core with a very large island and breakfast bar, keeping everything in easy reach whether you are entertaining a crowd or enjoying a quiet morning. The primary suite occupies the right wing at the back of the main floor, with direct porch access, a large walk-in shower, and a primary closet scaled generously for two. Two guest bedrooms at the front of the plan share a Jack and Jill bath. On the left side of the home, a side-entry two-car garage and a front-facing single-car garage create a practical motor court arrangement. A game room at the back left also connects directly to the rear porch, rounding out the main floor's outdoor access. Upstairs, a private guest suite with its own dedicated bathroom sits above the garage, offering visitors a completely self-contained retreat. An unfinished attic space provides additional storage for the long term.

FAQs

Are designs on Houseplans ready to submit to my building department for permitting?

It depends on where you're building. Our plans contain enough information for a professional builder to construct your home, but your local government may require additional information before permitting. We strongly advise that you talk with your builder before you get started. If you are building for yourself, we recommend visiting your local building department to start your diligence. Read more here.

Can I make changes to a plan?

Absolutely! Our modification service allows you to customize almost anything - whether it's adding an extra garage bay, adjusting square footage, changing the roof pitch, or more, the plan modification service is a great value and can be completed quickly. Additionally, if you purchase an electronic plan set (PDF or CAD), you may have the option to make changes locally. CAD files offer the most flexibility for custom edits. Just let us know what you're thinking, and we’ll provide an estimate and timeframe to get started. Learn more here.
