Plan Description

The forms of Yolo Cabin are inspired by farmstead water towers and lean-to sheds that dot agricultural landscapes. The top of the tower is a viewing terrace or loggia, which allows 360-degree views to the horizon. The main kitchen/living room is housed in the lean-to section, and is also elevated off the ground to enhance the view, as well as for air circulation during hot summers. The bedroom is at the base of the tower. The cabin is supported on two large glulam beams, which allows it to be moved in the future if desired.
