You'll also notice many layouts that feature an optional basement and/or upstairs bonus room, which can be used to expand the living square footage down the road should extra space suddenly be required.
When selecting your 1,200 sq. ft. farmhouse plan, consider selecting a layout that boasts a modern open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, and outdoor living space (e.g. porches, patios, decks, etc.). All three of these design features tend to make smaller homes feel bigger than they actually are.
The majority of the house plans in this collection are single-story designs, but you will find two-story options as well. A two-story 1,200 sq. ft. farmhouse floor plan might be best if you're working with a narrow lot.
